Nicholas Martin Miller is a 7 year old 2nd grader from Henderson. About a year ago he started limping and walking funny. His parents took him to a pediatrician and a foot doctor without receiving much satisfaction.
About 3 weeks ago he was feeling so sick he could not even walk or sit up to go to school. The doctor that saw him that day was not his regular pediatrician. He referred him to the Sunrise Children’s Hospital. It was then he was diagnosed with stage 4 Nueroblastoma (bone) cancer.
His parents, not having much money, are trying to raise enough money to pay for the quickly mounting uninsured medical costs. It has been quite a struggle for them financially and emotionally. Living paycheck to paycheck forced them to return to work a few days after he was diagnosed.
The other day Nicholas was very scared not having his parents present during an MRI. He tried ripping the port in his chest out where they administer the medication through a series of IV’s. They want the ability to take a day or two off work to be there with him during his 5 required rounds of chemotherapy.
